Trust That You Are Right Where You Need to Be: A Lesson for Moms Growing a Thriving Home and Business

As moms who are balancing both a thriving home and a growing business, it’s easy to get caught up in the now—assigning meaning to every challenge, questioning past decisions, and feeling the weight of uncertainty. We wonder if we’re doing the right thing, making the right moves, or if we should have chosen a different path entirely. But what if we could fully trust that we are exactly where we need to be? That even the detours were part of the perfect journey?

My Story: From Counseling to Business—A Path I Never Expected

I’ve lived this truth firsthand. I went to college and earned a degree in counseling, only to immediately decide not to pursue that path. Instead, I pivoted straight into business—something completely different from what I had just spent years studying. At the time, I could have easily fallen into a spiral of questioning: Why did I spend all that time, effort, and money on a degree I chose not to use? But looking back now, I can see so clearly that I was never off course—I was exactly where I needed to be.

Had I not gone to college, I wouldn’t have met my husband. I wouldn’t have gained the foundational knowledge about human behavior, emotions, and thought patterns—insights that I actually use today when helping women overcome limiting beliefs in their businesses. The counseling degree wasn’t wasted; it was preparing me for a role I couldn’t yet see. Every step had a purpose, even if I didn’t understand it in the moment.

The Illusion of ‘Wasted Time’

So many moms building their businesses get caught up in similar thought loops. Maybe you spent years in a corporate job before deciding to stay home and start a business. Maybe you invested time in a project that didn’t pan out. Maybe you’re learning skills that don’t seem to connect right now. But what if none of it was wasted? What if everything you’ve done so far has been laying the foundation for what’s next?

The reality is, we don’t always get the luxury of understanding in real-time. We look for meaning because we want assurance, but trust doesn’t require immediate clarity—it requires faith. Faith that every experience is shaping us, every lesson is preparing us, and every challenge is equipping us for what we are meant to do.

Trusting the Process as a Mom & Business Owner

Building both a home and a business requires surrendering to the bigger picture. Some days, it will feel like you’re stuck. Other days, it will feel like you’re failing. But just like a seed that’s planted beneath the soil, growth is happening even when you can’t see it.

Here’s what I’ve learned:

  • Your past experiences serve a purpose. Even if you don’t see the connection now, trust that they are valuable tools you will use.

  • You are not behind. Everything is unfolding in perfect timing, even if it’s not according to your schedule.

  • Your challenges are your greatest teachers. The struggles you’re navigating today may be the exact wisdom you’ll share with someone else tomorrow.

You’re Exactly Where You Need to Be

If you’re in a season of doubt—questioning if you’re on the right path, wondering if you’ve made the right decisions, or feeling like you’re not where you ‘should’ be—I want to remind you of this truth: You are exactly where you need to be. Even if it doesn’t make sense right now. Even if the pieces don’t seem to fit. One day, you’ll look back and see how it all connected beautifully.

Trust the process. Trust yourself. And most importantly, trust that every step you’ve taken has been leading you right to where you’re meant to be.

You’ve got this, Mama.
